Biography
Irfan Afzal Mirza started his career by joining Air Weapons Complex in late 1990s under Air Marshal Raja Shahid Hamid and Brig. Naseem Akhtar Khan. In 2001 he left AWC along with Raja Shahid Hamid and the two started their company Clean Power Pvt. Ltd. In 2003 the two joined Alternative Energy Development Board as its Chairman and Director.
Corruption
Irfan Afzal Mirza was assigned the MPII grade at Alternative Energy Development Board of Ministry of Water and Power, breaking all the government rules. Using his post as Director General he awarded his own companies a number of contracts including a five megawatt wind power plant.
Irfan Afzal Mirza has amassed a small fortune in the seven years of his employment at the AEDB. Coming from a humble background within five years he had looted a few million rupees. In 2010 he owned assets of upto a few caror rupees.
